Introducing Sphero Robot 2.0
Sphero is the world’s first robotic ball that students ages 8 and up can control using a smartphone or tablet. Sphero is very durable, pet-proof, and even waterproof! It can roll up to 7 feet per second, so it’s quite speedy. It’s a great hands-on way to introduce students to programming, robotics, and math. For example, Sphero is a great way of teaching students how to code. In this presentation, you can learn more about Sphero’s educational application. Currently, there are over 30 free apps that students can play either with friends or family or by themselves. Sphero emphasizes the power of play in education and has a variety of lessons that are aligned to the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. Sphero is helpful for teachers to use in the classrooms because it encourages the students to work in collaborative groups and enhance the teachers to integrate robotics into their curriculum to create some really engaging lessons for their students.
